ARG is in both the Random and the Hitcher portfolios.  Even though it has been in a long term rising trend it managed to travel sideways for around 5 months.  It can be frustrating holding these kind of stocks and more so in a leveraged portfolio where just running flat costs money every day so it's nice to see a break to the upside here.

Forex : 4th June : Short GBPUSD

Can we have our cake and eat it too?  We still hold a long Call position in this pair but now the physical chart tells me to sell.  There isn't much to do with the call - it's practically worthless and expiry looms so I will leave that in place and short the physical at 1.6745 with , initially, a 90 pip stop and 270 pip target

Shortly after KAR entered the Flipper it went into a trading halt that lasted practically a full month while they had a period of re-financing.  I hate this kind of thing.  I trade stocks because they are liquid and I don't like to be locked into an uncertain position.  Fortunately this particular instance seems to have resolved itself to the upside with a positive announcement and a break to the upside on huge volume.  Certainly there have been sellers either locking in profit or "Un-friend-ing" the stock but from my perspective I see a break over the 30 week MA and a stop now approximating the entry price.  So it's "wait and see" on this KAR

Forex : 3rd June : Long AUDCAD

Another day another trend.  This time it's AUDCAD.  SHort at 1.0069,  Initial stop 1.0145 target the resistance below for now.

May 2014 : How are we travelling?

Once again we have had a month where markets remained flat.  In fact the XAO has fallen precisely 0.06% since I started this project at the beginning of March.  As one might expect Trend following systems don't really make a lot of money in that type of market

So perhaps we should abandon these systems and try something else?  The answer to that question is a resounding no!  This game is won by persistence.  Many of the systems described in Nick Radge's 'Unholy Grails' can take 3 years to be profitable depending on when you start trading them.  Most of them make fantastic returns over the long run but we will never get there if we flip systems whenever the going gets a little hard.
